My AC is blowing but not cooling — what's wrong?
The most common causes: low refrigerant (leak in the system), a failed capacitor or contactor (inexpensive repairs), a frozen evaporator coil (often caused by restricted airflow from a dirty filter), or a failing compressor (expensive — often triggers a replacement conversation). How long does an AC installation take?

What is a SEER rating?
SEER refers to efficiency while tonnage refers to size — the two are unrelated. SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) measures how effectively an air conditioner or heat pump delivers cooling over an entire season: the total seasonal cooling output (in BTUs) divided by the total electricity used (in watt-hours). A higher SEER means a more efficient system and lower energy costs. SEER is related to EER and COP — EER measures efficiency under specific conditions, while COP (coefficient of performance) is a thermodynamic efficiency ratio, and EER is roughly 3.412 times COP. Tonnage indicates cooling capacity, not weight — one ton of cooling equals 12,000 BTU per hour, so a 4-ton system delivers 48,000 BTU/hr of maximum cooling capacity.
